Clara Meath is a very talented and extremely dedicated SEQA junior. She is known for her hard work and love of Sci-fi!
She got into comics a little later in life than people might think-She was almost in her twenties before it occurred to her to pursue comics professionally. She always loved comics in a detached way-newspaper comics, Calvin and Hobbes, and the like. She was definitely never a 'fan- girl' and even today she doesn't really have much interest in main stream comics.
She appreciates comics for their storytelling. Her real gateway "drug" was Hellboy.
She already loved the characters because of Guillermo del Toro's movies, and to this day she will check out anything Del Toro recommends. Her first "I want to do comics" comic was Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way. It sounds weird but this was literally the first time she realized people in her generation made comics.
She says, "I still remember the moment the lightbulb went off in my head and I realized I'd always been good with story, I'd always written, and I'd always drawn; I had every reason in the world to go into comics. I immediately looked up colleges that offered comics as a major."
She is currently working for Think Alike Productions on a project and is very happy to be in SCAD!
